We are happy to announce that ECA with the support of ecosphereplus is offsetting 300 tonnes of double-verified (VCS and CCB standards) carbon credits from the Sumatra Merang Peatland Project to balance the impact of our operations last year. The Sumatra Merang Peatland Project is financing the restoration of a total of 23,000 hectares of threatened peatland rainforest, one of the last remaining peatland zones in South Sumatra; the creation of a conservation area for hundreds of unique endangered species; and work with local communities to improve livelihoods and reduce pressure on the forest.
