In East Africa, major investments in hydropower, geothermal and other forms of generation are taking place, together with the development of interconnectors. Low cost, clean energy is to be available in the next few years for EAPP countries to import via the interconnected grid. It has thus become imperative that appropriate technical and economic regulation be in place at the regional level. ECA has been contracted to assist in the Independent Regulatory Board of Eastern Africa becoming fully operational.
