Almar joined ECA in 2016 and has over four years of experience advising governments, regulators and private entities in the energy sector. Since joining ECA he has primarily been working on energy policy and electricity pricing with a special focus on renewable energy. He holds a Master’s Degree in Sustainable Energy Science from Reykjavik University and a undergraduate degree in Geology.

Almar has participated in multiple studies involving electricity market review, regulatory economics, electricity pricing, energy efficiency, renewable energy and tariff design. In addition, he has led studies on renewable energy pricing and support mechanisms. He has worked across four continents and over 15 countries.

Key areas of interest include renewable energy development, RE auctions and support mechanisms, tariff design and the use of innovative and emerging technologies to solve tomorrow’s problems.
