ECA will work closely with Tanzania’s Ministry of Energy and Minerals to develop a comprehensive energy subsidy policy. The main objective of the study is to provide evidence-based recommendations regarding a sound and economically sustainable policy for the use of subsidies, including the use of domestic and foreign public financial resources, to support both increased access to energy, primarily electric power service (e.g. connections) and consumption of energy. While the overall focus is on the entire energy sector, the significant focus is on electricity, both in the development of generation capacity (including gas-fired generation) and the access to power for consumers.
