Turkey is seeking to diversify its generation mix by investing in nuclear power stations. The proposed Sinop Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) on the Black Sea in northern Turkey will have a capacity of 4,400 MWe. The Government of Turkey wants to ensure that the benefits of the project for the economy are maximised. ECA has been contracted to undertake a thorough Economic Impact Assessment of the Sinop NPP project and contribute to the 4 Plans being formulated jointly by the project sponsors and the Government (Localisation, Technology Transfer, Human Resource Development and Social Responsibility, Public Awareness and Public Acceptability). The ECA consortium includes an international engineering firm with nuclear expertise (Pöyry) and three Turkish partners (Hacettepe University, STM and EDB).
