ECA was recently contracted by the European Union Energy Initiative’s Partnership Dialogue Facility (EUEI PDF) to prepare and conduct a training course for representatives of the Government of Kenya’s renewable energy sector on financial modelling of renewable energy projects. Representatives came from the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, the Energy Regulatory Commission, Kenya Power, KENGEN, KETRACO and GDC. The content of the course was based on a standardised template for modelling small-scale renewable energy investments, developed by ECA (in association with local partner, Carbon Africa), to be provided to the Government of Kenya by prospective project developers under Kenya’s Small-Scale Renewable Energy Framework. The course was a follow-on from a similar course ECA and Carbon Africa ran with the same group three years ago under a larger contract with EUEI PDF for capacity building in Kenya’s small-scale renewables sector.
