NICOLAS JACOB

Managing Consultant

Nicolas is a Senior Consultant who focuses on market modelling and market fundamentals as well as on decentralized generation. He worked as a consultant across the value chain of the main power and gas supply companies in Belgium (EDF, Engie, Total). His experience as consultant led him to different sides of the supply business, ranging from back office operations, trading and portfolio management, corporate strategy and finally to marketing and sales departments.

During his collaboration with ENGIE in the Center of Expertise in Economic Modeling and Studies (CEEMS) attached to the Corporate Strategy division, he has been involved in a variety of projects, ranging from market- and grid scale studies to microgrid optimal economical investments analysis. These projects helped him to develop a good knowledge of market fundamentals with unit commitment and long-term capacity expansion approaches. Nicolas notably worked on power plant decommissioning or investment studies as well as on the group corporate scenarios for power prices projections for central and western Europe countries.

Nicolas also benefits from an experience on the retail side of the power and gas supply business. He worked as market analyst the Marketing and Sales department of EDF Luminus, the Belgian branch of EDF. His duty was to develop strategies regarding the pricing and the commercialization of EDF products, both on commodity markets (power and gas) and energy services, namely in energy efficiency, energy performance contracts, auto-production technologies and many others.

Nicolas holds a Msc. degree in Economics and Finance at the Catholic University of Louvain-la-Neuve in Belgium. Nicolas also developed interest in the associative world which led him to be involved in various associations. He worked 5 months in Abidjan for Kinderberg International. More recently, Nicolas joined the Talented Youth Network, a NGO devoted to counselling and coaching young people of impoverished neighbourhoods of Brussels.

Nicolas’ mother tongue is French and he reads, speaks and writes in Dutch at an intermediary level.
