ECA is conducting a study to recommend a suitable approach of incorporating the rebound effect in the DFID appraisal of renewable energy and energy efficiency projects – focusing on the direct rebound effects, but also partly covering the indirect effect. The first part of the study will review estimates of rebound effects across countries, energy services and end customer categories. The second part of the study will develop a methodology for quantifying the rebound effect.
