Almar joined ECA in 2016 as an analyst after having worked in the academic sector in Iceland. He has a strong academic background from Reykjavik University where he finished an interdisciplinary MSc. degree in Sustainable Energy Science. His main focus was on broadening his skillset across various fields such as Energy Economics, Engineering and Natural Sciences while maintaining a special interest in Geothermal Energy, which intertwines well with his BSc. in Geology from University of Iceland. Almar has done work as an Energy Analyst, researching the Icelandic energy and heavy industry sectors and modelling greenhouse gas emission predictions from residential waste. His MSc. thesis analysed mineral scaling in a geothermally powered district heating system in South Iceland.
