The study focused particularly on the potential natural gas supply options for electricity generation and other uses in Lebanon. The study included a number of components including: the derived demand for natural gas both from the electricity and non-electricity sectors including the potential substitution of gas for oil; the analysis of supply options and recommendations; the pricing of natural gas and petroleum products; gas market structure including private sector involvement; the legal and regulatory framework for the hydrocarbons sector; the feasibility of existing and new refineries; and the environmental and health benefits of pipeline development and natural gas use.
