MILES EVANS

Senior Consultant

Miles joined ECA in August 2014 after spending 3 years working in economic consulting in Auckland, New Zealand. In the past he has worked extensively in the New Zealand electricity industry, providing analytical support and advice on regulatory issues to a range of clients including electricity distributors, transmission companies, regulatory bodies and the government.

Key projects Miles has been involved in the electricity sector are:

  • Designing a customised quality of supply regulation for the Christchurch distribution network after the devastating Canterbury earthquakes
  • Audit and regulatory review of both transmission and distribution network quality of supply information
    Ownership structure reviews and benchmarking of New Zealand distribution businesses
  • Advising on submissions to the Commerce Commission with regards to new price control regulations for distributors

As well as working in the energy industry, Miles also has experience working with local government and financial institutions, building and reviewing financial/economic models used for strategic planning, cost allocation and price setting.

Miles holds a Bachelor’s degree in Applied Economics from Massey University, as well as a Master’s in Applied Finance from Victoria University of Wellington.

After previously living in Argentina, Miles can speak and read Spanish at an advanced level.
